Designer Pane
What Is It?
The Designer Pane is an element of the editing interface containing the survey flowchart. This is where you add, remove and arrange question objects to build the basic structure of your survey.
By default, question names (question property '02 Variable Name') are displayed to the left of each object in the flowchart. This, and other display options may be customised via the User Preferences accessible from the Main Menu.
How Do I Use This?
Adding an Object
Surveys are constructed by dragging question objects from the Toolbox and dropping them into the Designer Pane flowchart. You may also duplicate existing questions using the Quick Menu (see below).
For more information on how to add objects, see .
Selecting an Object
Left mouse-click on an object to select it (selection is indicated by a light blue box around the object). When an object is selected, its properties will be available for editing in the Properties Pane.
Moving an Object
The Designer Pane makes reordering questions easy. Simply drag and drop an object to a new location in the flowchart and the other questions in the survey will automatically adjust to the new ordering.
For more information on how to move objects, see .
Deleting an Object
To delete an object, you must select the Delete Object option from the Quick Menu (see below).
For more information on how to delete or disable questions, see .
Accessing the Quick Menu
The quick menu is used to perform various actions within the Designer Pane. To access the Quick Menu, right mouse-click on an object in the Designer Pane.
See Quick Menu for an overview of the available options.
Editing via the Quick Update Box
Objects in the flowchart can be edited directly from the Designer Pane by using the Quick Update Box. Double left mouse-click an object in the flowchart to open the Quick Update Box for that question.
See Quick Update Box for more information on how to use this feature.
