Flowchart

All surveys are built using the flowchart design interface. As with any flowchart design, each step in a survey is represented by a different shape. The shapes, or question objects, are linked together with arrows that show the direction of the survey flow.

What do the different flowchart shapes mean?

The shapes are a visual representation of different question types, also known as objects. There are twelve objects available, which can be dragged and dropped into the designer pane to build the survey flowchart. Most (if not all) surveys would comprise a range of different objects; rarely would a survey use only one shape throughout.

How do I know which shape to use?

The shape required depends on how you want the question to display on the screen and how you want the data to be captured. For example, if the question has multiple response options but the respondent is only required to select one answer, use a Single object. If they are required to select one or more options, use a Multi object. If you want to capture an open-ended response, use a Verbatim object. For further information about the shapes, see Question Types.

How do I build a survey flowchart?

To build a survey, question objects are added in sequence into the Designer Pane. There is no limit to the number of questions that can be added to a survey.
